INTRODUCTION

The Division of Adult Development and Aging (Division 20) of the American Psychological Association is sponsoring a series of awards for student and post-doctoral research. Research on any topic related to psychological issues in adult development and aging is eligible for these awards. Funding is provided by the Retirement Research Foundation. This foundation was established by John D. McArthur in 1978 to support programs, research, and public policy studies to improve the quality of life of older Americans.

RRF DISSERTATION AWARD

This award is for doctoral dissertations (NOT master’s theses) "completed and accepted".  Dissertations should have been completed prior to submitting an application for the RRF Doctoral Dissertation Award.

AWARDS FOR COMPLETED RESEARCH

Awards are available for completed research at undergraduate, graduate/master's, and postdoctoral levels.

FUNDING FOR RESEARCH PROPOSALS

Awards can be made to fund proposed research at the undergraduate, graduate/master's, graduate/doctoral, and postdoctoral levels. Funded research proposals are expected to be completed during the 2009-2010 academic year. To be eligible for one of these awards, the student must initiate and conduct the project under the supervision of a professor or research advisor at a university in the U.S.; the applicant is expected to be the principal investigator on the project.
